Meet your new Peter Pan and Wendy Darling.
Disney has cast two actors in the iconic roles for its upcoming live-action film currently titled “Peter Pan & Wendy.”
Variety reports that newcomer Ever Anderson will step into the role of young Wendy. The adult version of Wendy is being portrayed by “Black Widow” star Scarlett Johannson.
Anderson is the daughter of actress and “Resident Evil” star Milla Jovovich.
Disney Junior star Alexander Molony, best known for his work in “Claude,” is set to play the boy who wouldn’t grow up.
The film, directed by David Lowery, is based off of Disney’s 1953 musical animated classic “Peter Pan,” in which Wendy and her brothers are “whisked away into the magical world of Neverland with the hero of their stories, Peter Pan.”
In this fantasy-land they encounter Peter’s friends, the Lost Boys, Peter Pan’s sidekick, Tinkerbell, and the villainous Captain Hook.
There have been many iterations and adaptations of the classic film including stage musicals, TV shows like “Once Upon a Time,” and even a Steven Spielberg-directed film about the captain of the Jolly Roger.
After seeing massive success from live-action adaptations of “Aladdin” and “The Lion King,” Disney is expanding its slate with “Peter Pan” and “Mulan,” which is set to hit theaters on March 27 unless the coronavirus outbreak derails the premiere as it has with James Bond’s “No Time to Die” and the sequel to “A Quiet Place.”
No details were offered on when the public can expect to visit Neverland.
Disney is reportedly in the process of developing a sequel to “Aladdin” in hopes of capitalizing on the first film’s box-office success.
