Seth MacFarlane to reboot 1984 comedy 'Revenge of the Nerds'

Seth MacFarlane is feeling nostalgic.

The “Family Guy” creator is working on a reboot of the 1984 comedy ”Revenge of the Nerds.”

Variety notes that the actor will produce the modern-day reboot through his production company Fuzzy Door.

Due to some controversial topics, the new version will be taking a different approach than the original.

Tthe outlet notes the “contemporary reimagining will pontificate about today’s nerd culture and what even constitutes a geek in the 21st century.”

Twin brothers Keith and Kenny Lucas, who are best known for scene-stealing roles in “22 Jump Street,” are set to write and star in the film.

Alex Rubens, known for “The Twilight Zone” and “Rick and Morty,” will be co-writing the script.

The original “Revenge of the Nerds” became a blockbuster hit spawning sequels like 1987’s “Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise” and even TV movies like 1992’s “The Next Generation.”

2021 will see a bit of a “reboot boom” for iconic TV shows and movies.

Showtime is reviving “Dexter” for a limited-series run.

HBO is set to revive its vampire series "True Blood" with show creator Alan Ball on board as executive producer.
