Billie Eilish Responds to Bikini Backlash on Social Media: 'Like, Dude. I Can’t Win'

Back in January of 2020, when there were only rumblings of the impending worldwide coronavirus crisis, singer Billie Eilish recently turned 18 and went on a Hawaiian vacation.

Like anyone who makes a trip to paradise, she posted some of her excursions with friends on her Instagram; Like kayaking, ziplining, and rope swinging.

But the usually fully covered singer - she's explained this too many times for you not to know - decided to share her moments in the sun, wearing (gasp!) a bathing suit in some of the clips. Unfortunately, some users have spoken out with less than encouraging remarks in the comments section.

Eilish explained her fashion sense to Vogue Australia back in 2019, saying that she prefers wearing over-sized clothing because it doesn't allow anyone the excuse to judge her body. But this being the Internet in 2020, judge they have.

Billie opened up about this in the new issue of Dazed magazine saying she feels like she simply "can't win."

“’I saw comments like, ‘How dare she talk about not wanting to be sexualized and wear this?!’” she admits. “It was trending. There were comments like, ‘I don’t like her anymore because as soon as she turns 18 she’s a whore.’ Like, dude. I can’t win. I cannot win.”

And just like that, it comes full circle. Whether Eilish wears, honestly, super-stylish baggy clothing to express herself, or goes on a vacation and wears perfectly acceptable vacation attire, the haters are gonna hate.

Luckily for Eilish she's an incredibly talented singer, has a wonderful family and friends to support her, and millions of fans who will accept her for who she is - bikini or baggy.

She's not the "bad guy" here. It's those judging eyes.
