Flashback to 2019, when the world went wild for BTS simply appearing on the GRAMMY stage. Their appearance as presenters launched a million headlines, as the group vowed to be back next year. After being shut out of the nominations, fans were discouraged. However, a flurry of activity in the past 24 hours has once again restored hope to the ARMY.
The group has been at rehearsals this week for the 2020 GRAMMY Awards, set to be a part of Lil Nas X’s performance during the show. On Thursday the Recording Academy confirmed that the performance of “Old Town Road” will feature the artist’s long list of remix partners, including Billy Ray Cyrus, Mason Ramsey, Diplo, and RM of BTS. The final version of the viral hit featured RM, as one last push towards Lil Nas X’s record-breaking streak at number one. Now the whole group will join him for the performance, along with other special guests.
While working on the giant song with the chart-topping star, BTS ran into GRAMMY nominee Ariana Grande, who will also be performing on Sunday night. The “thank u, next” singer posted a photo with the group on Wednesday, commenting “look who I bumped into at rehearsal.”
Fans were quick to point out that SUGA was not featured in the photo, but all members should be accounted for when the K-pop Kings perform on the show this weekend.
