Power Pop couple Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes first became official this past July, but the feelings have been around for a long time according to the “Never Be The Same” singer.
In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Camila shares the moment she first started to catch feelings for Shawn, and it dates back to their very first collaboration. Cabello says it was when they first starting working on “I Know What You Did Last Summer” in 2015, and it was there that she knew it was something more.

“I really bonded with him as more than a friend. I think he did too, but we were both really young, and he was experiencing the pressures of his career,” Camila shares. The two wrote the song together during stops on Taylor Swift’s 1989 Tour, where Mendes served as the opening act and Fifth Harmony appeared as a special guest.
“I don’t think we knew what to do with those feelings. It was this awkward thing where we both liked each other, but we weren’t together. It was just weird,” she continues on about her “Señorita” co-star. “An energy was there from the beginning, but after that song, we didn’t spend as much time together. Our paths just didn’t cross in that way romantically until we started hanging out again and writing. For me, it just brought it back.”
