We’ve said this before and we’ll say it again, there’s nothing Dua Lipa can’t do. Gather tens of thousands to see her perform, check. Have impeccable street and red carpet style, check. Play guest host on Jimmy Kimmel Live, check, and btw, she smashed it.
Starting off with her opening monologue, Dua Lipa let us know that it is in fact her real name and not some silly stage moniker. She also finally admitted what we’ve all been wondering, yes she went to Hogwarts, and yes of course she was in the House of Gryffindor, duh.
After she showed off her tattoos, had an awkward moment with Guillermo and walked us through the Dua Lipa Challenge, it was time for the first segment, "Who-a Lipa?"
Dua admitted to wanting to broaden her fan pool and she had just the idea to do so, so she interviewed a bunch of elderly folk and asked them questions about pop music, her own music, and herself.
The end result is absolute hilarity and you definitely want to check it out. Don’t believe us, well here are just a few of the hilarious answers Dua received when asking the following, “What do you think about Pop music?” — “You’re not too loud, I don’t hear you too well.”, “I’m not particularly familiar with what’s pop.” Our favorite reaction would have to be when she asked one of the men, “Who is Dua Lipa?” — his response, “Huh? The Doobie Brothers?” At the end she finally reveals herself and those reactions, are priceless as well.
Later in the show, Lipa interviewed our favorite “No Hollaback Girl” Gwen Stefani. Lipa thanked Gwen for being there and also for being on the remix of “Physical,” originally set for a mid August release, but will now debut on August 28, along with an animated music video.
Dua went on to ask Gwen about how she’s been spending her time during quarantine. Even calling Gwen’s longtime boyfriend Blake Shelton her "husband," to which Gwen had no qualms correcting. "So I heard that you've been spending quarantine with your husband Blake Shelton at the ranch in Oklahoma," Dua said as Gwen smiled. "Who else was with you? How was that?
After a brief pause, Gwen replied, "Um, well... he's not my husband, but that sounded cool when you said it.”
But it was truly no biggie, both ladies laughed it off and carried on. Gwen revealed that she and her family all stayed on Blake's ranch right at the start of quarantine, “It was really actually a lot of fun at first," Gwen told Dua. "Because it's like, all of the sudden, work is over and you just get to indulge and just being on this ranch... every day was like a new thing."
Dua continued on asking some “random, weird” questions like “have you ever forgotten your lyrics on stage,” to which Gwen asnwered, of course, yes. Then she asked what would Blake say is her most annoying trait? She guessed, “probably being on my phone, he doesn't like that probably. But he likes me a lot, so... I can do no wrong."
Well, we definitely agree with that. Actually when it comes to both of these singing beauties there isn’t much they do we are not obsessed with.
