Ed Sheeran made a stop in Iceland this weekend, and got a visit from Iceland’s strongest man. Strike that, the World’s Strongest Man.
Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, the 6’9 and 441 pound Strongest Man winner who starred as The Mountain on Game Of Thrones, stopped by to see Sheeran before a show at Laugardalsvöllur Stadium this weekend. The actor and competitor welcomed Ed the best way he knew how, by power-lifting him above his head.
“He asked for it,” Björnsson wrote in his own post of the moment. “Luckily I didn’t drop him... he has to work tonight!”
The two are actually both Game Of Thrones alumni, with Sheeran starring as a member of the Lannister Army in season seven of the show, ultimately revealed to have suffered a grisly death by the fire of a dragon.
Sheeran is finishing up his record-setting Divide Tour this month with a few remaining shows in the UK. Last week the “Shape Of You” singer beat our U2 for the highest-grossing tour of all time.
