“Honoring the tradition,” Halsey, gifted her fans with a present on her birthday. In celebration of her twenty-sixth journey around the sun, the singer dropped a deluxe version of her 2020 album Manic and a music video for it’s closing track “929.”
The title of the track references both Halsey's birthday and time of birth, as she starts of the song, “I really was born at 9:29 a.m. on 9/29,” Halsey says with a laugh. “You think I’m lying but I’m being dead serious / Okay, I’ll prove it.”
In the newly accompanying visual, Halsey shares a collection of home movies from her childhood giving us an intimate behind-the-scenes look at the journeys around the sun that came before. The Peter Donaghy directed video, opens with a crib and a rocking horse, adding another layer to one of Halsey’s already most personal songs, in which the musician reflects on her “manic” life and career. “Who am I? I'm almost 25 / Can't remember half the time that I've been alive," she sings.
Eleven additional tracks help contribute to the deluxe-ness of the re-released album, including two exclusive tracks, "wipe your tears" and "I'm Not Mad," as well as "Be Kind" her collab with Marshmello, two different "Without Me" remixes, one featuring Juice WRLD and the other by Illenium, and six stripped down acoustic tracks.
