“Good people sometimes enjoy doing bad things,” grins Kesha about her new song, “Raising Hell,” the first preview of her upcoming fourth album, High Road. “It doesn’t take away from you being a fantastic soul. It’s just kind of fun to be naughty.”

You can feel it course through every inch of “Raising Hell,” the joy that Kesha brings along with her new collaborator Big Freedia. A meeting on the Kesha Cruise led to one of the fiercest combinations in pop history, two stars destine to collide in bright and beautiful ways.

Like a siren call, Freedia’s set on the singer’s floating adventure sent Kesha charging from her room, down to the performance to see what was happening. “I was like, ‘hold on. I gotta go.’ And I ran down downstairs,” she remembers in an exclusive interview with RADIO.COM. “Everyone was going fully nuts, jumping up and down, twerking upside down. It was one of the funnest shows I’ve ever seen in my entire life.”

“We ended up hanging all night until the sun came up,” Kesha adds. “We got matching tattoos on the high seas, and by the end of the night I was like, ‘we’re working together, done. It’s done.’”

Nobody knows what inspired the two to get a dead fish tattoo, but here they are, proud and powerful with swagger coming out the gills. “Why? No one knows,” she laughs. “It sparked a connection that will be there forever, this dead fish.”

For that and a million reasons more, Freedia was the obvious choice when it came time for “Raising Hell.”

“When I was mixing ‘Raising Hell’ I thought to myself, Freedia would be amazing on this. She’s Queen Freedia. I called her up and it was an instant ‘hell yeah.’ So her and I, we just have so much fun together.”

“Raising Hell” is a RADIO.COM World Premiere, which means you can hear it here and stream it on the RADIO.COM app all throughout the day on Thursday October 24.

The song is something Kesha refers to as “escapist pop,” transporting you away for 3 minutes at a time. “I think it’s like a miracle,” she explains of the power of music. “The state of politics, and division, and drama all the time – and I just think now for my life, I just want to feel happy and feel good and celebrate being here. And I want to give that to people.”

Before we let Kesha go, we got her to answer a few true or false questions for us, to see if we could squeeze out any other amazing answers as long as we’re having fun. She confirmed that yes, her cat Mr. Peeps is the best obviously, hinted at a possible musical around her song “Rich, White, Straight Men,” and shed a little light on a potential collaboration with The Flaming Lips.

“There is a collaboration between me and The Flaming Lips that is hiding somewhere. God only knows where. In Wayne Coyne’s van somewhere,” she says. “I have no idea where those are. True, that I would love for them to see the light of day, but no one knows where they are, so good luck.”

You can watch the rest of our true or false with Kesha below. High Road is due out on January 10.
