Hello, Lady Gaga.
The “Shallow” songstress set fire, to the web on Tuesday with six simple words. “I’m calling my next album ADELE,” she tweeted, bewildering followers and fans.
After a deeply personal tribute to her aunt with her last album title Joanne, without context the name ADELE seems like a joke. At least people are treating it as one. Could Gaga be so brazen as to name her long-awaited LP after an icon so notorious she only needs one name? It’s bold, but if anyone could pull it off with sincerity and style, it’s Mother Monster.

Despite previous collaboration rumors and the two seemingly striking up a friendship at the GRAMMYs in 2017, people were eager to dismiss. Quickly they moved past the point of seriousness with the message, and asked the singer to hurry up and release her album.
Gaga first started teasing LG6 earlier this year, brushing off gossip by saying, “Rumors I’m pregnant? Yeah, I’m pregnant with #LG6.”
Could Lady Gaga actually being naming her album ADELE? Perhaps somewhere in the past there’s another Adele that has impacted her like her aunt. Or maybe the collaboration really did come to life, and it’s so big they have to name the entire album after it. Or maybe the album is only about numbers, to flip the script on the singer’s own album-naming strategy. We could do this all day.
Whenever it arrives and whatever it’s called, Lady Gaga’s sixth album will be her first solo release since 2016. Of course, in-between there was a little thing called A Star Is Born, which set soundtrack records and included her duet with Bradley Cooper that won Best Original Song at both the Oscars and Golden Globes, and Best Pop/Duo Group Performance at the GRAMMYs.
