Selena Gomez Gives 'Rare' Acoustic Performance

Watch a different slant on the new song

Selena Gomez put a different slant on the title track of her new album with a stripped-down performance.

The emotion she pours into “Rare” shines through even stronger when her voice rises to the top. Accompanied by just an acoustic guitar player and a backup singer, Gomez is as comfortable as ever.

The performance was recorded at The Village Studios in Los Angeles, the legendary facility used by everyone from Lady Gaga to Taylor Swift.

Gomez released her first album in five years last month. Rare shot to the top spot on the Billboard 200 and lead single “Lose You to Love Me” went to #1 on the Billboard 100. She told RADIO.COM the new music was shaped by her recent challenges.

“I wanted it to be a declaration of where I am, and hopefully for other people who have experienced what I’ve experienced, just to know that feeling is valid,” she said “Hopefully they can feel peace about that.”

Selena never stops with just music, though. The 27-year-old announced her Rare Beauty makeup line earlier this month. The products will be available at Sephora this summer, but she already changed up her own look with a new hairdo.
