Selena Gomez conjured the vibes of pop greatness during an Instagram Live interview, comparing the release of her latest make-up chain to meeting Britney Spears.
“I was going to the Britney concert and I remember just being in the nosebleeds, obsessed with her. She was my idol,” Gomez told Sephora in a promotional interview. “I remember saying, 'I want to be like her.' Then fast forward a few years later and I'm sitting down at some event just talking to her."
Fast forward to the year 2020 and Selena’s superstar career echoes to Brit’s sustained world-wide popularity. She says the sit down still holds significant meaning, today. "She, to me, is an icon. I was like pouring out my love to her as a fan and it’s like that feeling. Who would have thought that I would be able to be with you? And who thought I would be able to get my own make-up line in the best store that I grew up in?"
The interview focused on Gomez’s philanthropic endeavor through her company, Rare Beauty. The “Rare Impact Fund” is working to raise $100 million for mental health services in vulnerable communities.
Philanthropy isn’t the only think on Selena’s mind. She and BLACKPINK revealed the name of their soon to be released single “Ice Cream.”
Given we’re living in the time of COVID-19, the ladies indulged fans with a video chat session to talk about the new single. The session included virtual hugs and laughs shared by all.
