Selena Gomez is making up for lost time.
One day after dropping her first new song of the year, the aching “Lose You To Love Me,” Gomez has shifted gears into an upbeat empowerment banger, flashing with lights of hope for the more optimistic morning after.
“Here’s my special gift to all of my ride or dies,” Gomez wrote as she revealed the song to fans. “I created this especially for you. Y’all have been through it all with me and I thank you for pushing me to be the best.”
Once again, like the video from the day before, “Look At Her Now” is shot entirely on an iPhone, with Gomez spinning around dancers, covered in colors as she finds her footing after a broken relationship. “Of course she was sad, but now she's glad she dodged a bullet,” she sings. “Took a few years to soak up the tears but look at her now.”
In a lot of ways “Look At Her Now” feels like a companion piece for the more melancholy “Lose You To Love Me,” offering another soundtrack to another stage of getting through heartbreak. It’s also sure to have fans drawing conclusions about the subject of the song, paging through Gomez’s relationship history to make connections.
