Taylor Swift once again threw Swifties into hysterics, releasing an intimate “cabin in candlelight” remix of her newest hit “cardigan.” But she didn’t stop there. The Pop star released an alternate music video for the track using behind-the-scenes footage from the album’s photo shoot.
The music video beckons viewers to follow Taylor through quiet moments, alone in the woods. Scenes are framed with a wooden border and plain floral background that complement the stripped down and simple tone of the song. Each element speaks to a new sound Swift has been cultivating after her 2019 album Lover was considered an exploration in purely Pop aesthetic.
Swift’s hit single “cardigan” has been garnering massive buzz since the release of her newest album folklore, last Friday. According to Guinness World Records, the album has official broken the record for most streams on the day of release with 80.6 million.
She wrote the album while in isolation from the coronavirus and surprised fans with little promotion before its release. Taylor says she "poured all of my whims, dreams, fears, and musings" into the songs.
Swift celebrated the release of her newest album sending cardigans to fans and celebrities alike. One lucky recipient was Kobe Bryant's daughter, Natalia Bryant
Music stars around the country are already buzzing about the remix and music video. Miranda Lambert gave a shout out from home with her own cardigan.
Brie Larson took a more musical angle in her appreciation of Swift. She tweeted her cover of “the 1”, dedicating it to her “forever Swiftie friend, Jessie.”
