Fans often say their favorite artists changed their lives, but they’re usually talking about the music and lyrics to their songs. But Taylor Swift changed the life of a student in Canada in a much bigger way.

After sharing on Tumblr that her parents couldn’t afford her college expenses, Ayesha Khurram of Toronto got the surprise of a lifetime when the “Shake it off” singer came through for her.

Khurram shared a screenshot of a PayPal transfer from Taylor Nation, LLC. The amount was $6,386.47 Canadian dollars, which works out to be about $4800 U.S. dollars. Khurram was predictable grateful and emotional.

“I posted about struggling with paying for tuition,” she wrote. “Two hours later, I get this in my email. I have no words and I can’t stop crying. I don’t have words. I don’t have words. I don’t have words. I can’t stop crying.”

A note that came along with the gift read: "Ayesha, get your learn on girl. I love you!"

Swift is known to have a special relationship with her fans and thanked them personally after winning the first ever Icon Award at the Teen Choice Awards over the weekend.

“You make me so happy,” she said during the ceremony in Hermosa Beach. “You make me laugh every day online, I love meeting you, I love loving you. You are just the most amazing, generous people. Thank you for giving me the life that I have. Every single minute of every day I know that you are the reason that I have the life I have and I that I get to do what I love doing.”
