Taylor Swift is completely transformed in her video for “The Man” - stomping around the office, manspreading on the subway, even partying with models on a yacht. With an amazing metamorphosis into a man, Swift lives The Wolf of Wall Street life; fast, hard, and with constant celebration just for being.
Fans are already unpacking the easter eggs from “The Man,” paying special attention to the hallway of hands and the “No Scooter” sign. Swift’s album titles are also written on the subway wall, along with a poster that says “Missing, If Found Return to Taylor Swift.” Both appear to be nods to her ongoing battle over the masters to her previous albums, and Scooter Braun, who was a part of purchasing them last year.
The video for "The Man" is directed by Taylor Swift, with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson providing the voice for her “Man” character. The clip ends with Taylor giving the “Man” advice, asking him, "could you try to be sexier? Maybe more likable this time?" The notes are immediately followed by praise for an unseen female extra. "By the way, excellent work over there, Lauren. That was astonishing."
“The Man” is from Swift’s seventh studio album, Lover, released in August of 2019.
Taylor will be performing at her own Lover Fest later this year, July 25 and 26 at the new SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, and on July 31 and August 1 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA.
