Who Is Karol G? Getting to Know the Jonas Brothers' 'X' Collaborator

A JoBro bop with Latina vibes

You guys, we’re freakin’ out. The Jonas Brothers and Karol G have just blessed us with a newly released and muy caliente single called “X.”

After teasing the collaboration and tempting us with some cover art earlier this week, the song officially dropped at midnight on May 15. And let us tell you, it is a tried and true JoBro bop, but mixed with sultry Latina vibes, and it does not disappoint.

These two go together like oreos and peanut butter, unexpected, but so delicious. “She said oh oh oh, kiss me like your ex is in the room,” the brothers harmonize on the chorus. "If you play it right you could be that someone who won't leave me lonely tonight.” I mean….

Karol G brings the fire with a verse in Spanish, “Caliente, te pongo caliente/No te de miedo vivir algo diferente/Las ganas no se equivocan/Pon to lengua en mi boca/Viva la vida loca.” In the verse Karol claims to make us hot, and girl… we are not going to argue that.

For those of you not familiar with the Latina songstress, you might have heard her bilingual track "Tusa" with Nicki Minaj, released in November. Karol is all about Latinx artists collaborating with mainstream English-speaking singers. Telling ET last year that she’s "so happy to be a part of this moment in music.” The Colombian singer added, "I love seeing how English-speaking artists want to collaborate with Latino artists. And, how I’m able to be part of an American song and bring my urban flair."

But sometimes Karol likes to keep her collaboration close to home, just last month Karol and her bae Anuel AA released their new song, “Follow,” about how simply hitting "follow" on someone on social media can make quite the flirty impact. The two recorded and filmed the video while quarantining in Miami, Florida.

The Jonas Brothers and Karol G will perform the new song on The Voice’s two-hour finale airing at 9PM ET on Tuesday, May 19 on NBC.

Lucky for us the JoBro’s wanted to appease our every mood. The drop of "X" is accompanied by a soft ballad, "Five More Minutes.” The release of both singles has sparked a bit of a social media trend #JONASBROTHERSXV, calling for side by side selfies, “X" vs “5 More Minutes.” Feeling up for the challenge?
