Bow down for the return of Selena Gomez, back with her first solo song of 2019 and what looks to be the beginning of a new era.

“Lose You To Love Me” is an aching ballad, arriving 4 years after her second studio album, Revival. The confessional “Lose You To Love Me” comes with a black and white visual, appearing to be in a literal confessional. Gomez sings about empty promises and her emergence from a broken relationship, leaving fans looking for clues as to who is the subject of this scorned saga.

“In two months you replaced us, like it was easy,” she sings with a slight quiver in her dynamic voice. “Made me think I deserved it.”

Lines like this, and especially the phrase “set fire to my purpose," have pointed to a particular old flame for some Selenators.

"This song was inspired by many things that have happened in my life since releasing my last album," Gomez shared on YouTube. "I want people to feel hope and to know you will come out the other side stronger and a better version of yourself."

Whoever it’s about, “Lose You To Love Me” is a welcome return, with Gomez sharing a sincere and soaring song that showcases a voice we haven’t heard nearly enough in the past 4 years. Jumping past health and heartbreak hurdles, Selena season is here.
