Dreams of a Jack WhiteJack Black collaboration are becoming a little more real.

Rock fans have long wanted the opposite shades of Jacks to get together in the studio, and that part has definitely happened. Black and his band Tenacious D performed in Nashville over the weekend and brought the idea of "Jack Gray" closer to reality.

According to The Tennessean, Black thanked White before the encore and told the crowd he and the band had been at his house recording a new song. What isn’t clear is whether White appears on the track, or whether Tenacious D was simply using his home studio.

Fans have been clamoring for more Black and White interaction for years for obvious reasons, and within the past few months the two were finally spotted in the same place at the same time. They ran into each other at London’s Heathrow Airport while Tenacious D and White’s The Raconteurs were both on a European tour.

Tenacious D posted a picture of White in the middle of Black and bandmate Kyle Glass. White held a Tenacious D t-shirt and the caption joked: ‘We hired a new merch guy.”

Years ago, the Jacks famously fought it out on MTV’s “Celebrity Deathmatch,” but their real-life encounters had been few and far between, as far as we know.

Tenacious D is taking a break from the road until coming back in force for a U.S. tour in October. They released their fourth studio LP Post-Apocalypto at the end of last year.

The Raconteurs highly-anticipated comeback album Help Us Stranger was released earlier this summer. White and the band have an ambitious touring schedule that you can check out right here.
