It's been two decades since Deftones released their iconic third album, White Pony, with the heavy and haunting tracks that have made their way into the deepest parts of fans' beings.
Aside from the chart topping song "Change (In the House of Flies)" and the re-issue's "Back to School (Mini Maggit)," which both helped catapult the band into the mainstream, deeper cuts like the drifting and dreamy "Feiticeira," the torturous screams of "Knife Prty," and the deeply disturbing lyrics of "Passenger" featuring Tool's Maynard James Keenan round out the legendary release.
Besides revealing that they're working on another reissue of the LP complete with remixes, titled Black Stallion, Deftones have teamed up with San Diego brewery Belching Beaver to create a special IPA for the festivities.
The beer's description reads: "White Pony is loaded with intense pineapple aroma, lemon peel, and grapefruit notes. There is an upfront flavor of pineapple but finishes with a soft grapefruit note with a mild bitterness and medium mouthfeel. It has a beautiful amount of layered hop flavors and aromas."
Singer Chino Moreno says, “Our approach to beer is similar to how we approach our music, it’s constantly changing and evolving to help ensure we’re releasing a quality product that we stand behind. With our wonderful partners at Belching Beaver, we’re proud to have collaborated on yet another beer that has been created with care and released with pride.”
If you happen to get your hands on some of the limited edition suds which are only available in select states, (Arkansas, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nebraska, Nevada, Minnesota, Oregon, Washington, and Wisconsin) save a can for the band's upcoming album release on September 25. The brewery also has another Deftones inspired India Pale Ale for sale year round.
Deftones' new LP, Ohms, is on the way and you can check out their new video for the title track below.
