Long before Tiger King took over our quarantine, Joe Exotic was on the radar of Marilyn Manson.
The Antichrist Superstar singer started to follow the big cat keeper on social media in 2018, and the man at the center of the Netflix series, reached out to see if he could secure an endorsement from Manson.
One of the many memorable moments in Tiger King, is a run for Governor of the state of Oklahoma from Exotic, capturing the attention of many across the nation with his unorthodox campaign and bigger than life personality. That’s likely what inspired Manson to follow him, and why Exotic made sure to shoot his shot for support.
“Hey, Thanks for the follow. I’m running for Governor of Oklahoma and trying to speak for the real people for a change and get some help for addiction in this State that no one cares about,” Joe wrote in a direct message. “Would you endorse me? Not asking for money. Just to use your name as an endorsement.”
Wednesday, Manson publicly issued his reply, posting the DM on Instagram with the comment, “Nope. Don’t F*** With Cats.”
Joseph Maldonado-Passage, better known as Joe Exotic, is currently serving time in prison, thanks to events that are documented in the series. On Thursday it was announced that Joe had been moved into self-isolation over coronavirus concerns.
