The wait is officially over. New Metallica music is upon us with a release day announcement and a new live video from their forthcoming S&M2 live album.
The concerts in 2019 were to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Metallica’s iconic live album S&M and have gone down in history as the last time they played live together -- prior to their fall 2019 tour being postponed when singer James Hetfield announced his return to rehab, compounded by the emergence of the novel coronavirus.
Although this is not new Metallica per se, there could be an album in the works while the band is under quarantine. Lars admitted in April that, "if you and I and the rest of the world are still sitting here six months from now or a year from now, I'd say there's a very good chance."
The band's latest album and visuals were recorded and filmed at the Chase Center in San Francisco, CA on September 6th and 8th, 2019, accompanied by the San Francisco Symphony.
S&M2 will be out on August 28th and is available now for pre-order right here.
