Seether Announces Release Date for First New Album in Three Years

'Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum' is due out August 28th

Seether will return with their first new album in three years when they release Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum on August 28th.

To coincide with the announcement of their new record, the band shared the song “Dangerous,” the first single off the upcoming album. The song is accompanied by an animated music video created by the Turkish director Mertcan Merbilek. Merbilek has worked alongside artists such as Santana, Ray Charles, Ravi Shankar, and Elvis Costello.

“These songs are carefully crafted to nestle in your ears like a tiny velvet rabbit clutching a switch-blade,” frontman Shaun Morgan said in a statement.

“This whole album is kind of me going through that process. I’m exposing myself to a degree I’m not normally comfortable with, but I think it’s OK. I’m proud to be a little bit more vulnerable on this album.

The record is the band’s eighth full-length studio album and marks the first with newest member Corey Lowery. Lowery assisted with engineering the album and has been friends with Morgan for 16 years.

“Corey has a lot of experience and is an inspiring guitarist as well; he’s the older brother I’ve always wanted,” Morgan said.

Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum marks Seether’s first release since 2017’s Poison The Parish. Although the band took a heavier direction on the record, they opened up the roots of their music at the time and shared an acoustic version of their song “Against The Wall.”

The video for the song was shot entirely in black and white featuring a guest appearance from Sevendust’s Clint Lowery.
