Sure, you don't need a political science degree from Harvard University in order to speak out against systemic violence and the loss of another black life at the hands of those who have been hired to protect and serve.

But it definitely helps.

Such was the case over the weekend when Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello shared an oldie but goodie from his Instagram, showing an interaction with a commenter who called him out for being just "another successful musician instantly [becoming] a political expert."

"One does not have to be an honors grad in political science from Harvard University to recognise the unethical and inhumane nature of this administration but well, I happen to be an honors grad in political science from Harvard University, so I can confirm that for you,” Morello replied at the time.

"Like shooting fish in a barrel," he captioned the screenshot shared over the weekend, obviously in reference to some of the commentary that always surrounds celebrities and artists who use their platforms to speak on issues outside of their profession. But where is the sense in that argument? One could assume not all of these people are political scientists either.

Are their voices and calls for justice not one and the same with Morello?

With the postponement of their highly anticipated reunion tour due to the COVID-19 health crisis, the members of Rage Against The Machine have been in a holding pattern checking out kids' covers of their songs and dropping tracks with Run The Jewels.
