Netflix reveals movies, shows and specials coming this holiday season


Netflix is ready to deck the halls with several original holiday movies, shows, and documentaries.

Fans will be able to enjoy the third season of “The Great British Baking Show,” see the return of Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn and Mrs. and Mrs. Clause in the sequel to “The Christmas Chronicles,” tune into a Dolly Parton Christmas special, and do another double-take in the sequel to “The Princess Switch” starring Vanessa Hudgens.

The streaming service will be spreading the holiday cheer beginning in October and running all the way through December.

The Holidate - October 28

The film finds Emma Roberts’ Sloane “fed up with being single on holidays.” She agrees to be Jackson’s platonic plus-one all year long but the two inevitably “catch real feelings along the way” in this holiday rom-com.

A New York Christmas Wedding - November 1

An angel shows Jennifer Ortiz (played by Nia Fairweather) what could have been, if she hadn’t pursued her rich Manhattanite boyfriend and was honest about her secret feelings for her best childhood girlfriend.

Operation Christmas Drop - November 5

“The Vampire Diaries” Kat Graham stars as a political aide who falls for a big-hearted Air Force pilot (played by The Hunger Games’” Alexander Ludwig) as they team up to bring Christmas cheer to those in need.

Dash & Lily - November 10

Based on “Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares,” the TV series is set in New York City and follows Dash, who finds a notebook in a bookstore left by Lily, filled with challenges. She’s been waiting for the right guy to come along and accept the dares.

Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey - November 13

Written by playwright and director David E. Talbert, it tells the story of an eccentric inventor Jeronicus Jangle (Forest Whitaker) and his granddaughter Journey (Madalen Mills).

Holiday Home Makeover With Mr. Christmas - November 18

Do you find yourself envying the holiday decorations of celebrities like the Kardashians? The new reality series will give you a peek into the life of master decorator, Benjamin Bradley.

The Princess Switch: Switched Again - November 19

Vanessa Hudgens will play not one, not two, but three characters in the sequel after Duchess Margaret and Princess Stacy realizes there’s "a third look-alike who has ambitions of her own.”

Dolly Parton's Christmas On The Square - November 22

The holiday musical finds the 74-year-old country legend as an angel who aims to convince scrooge-like Regina Fuller (Christine Baranski) against evicting residents and infuses her with some holiday cheer.

The Christmas Chronicles: Part Two - Nov. 25

In the highly-anticipated sequel, real-life couple Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn are Mr. and Mrs. Clause once again. It takes place two years after Kate and Teddy saved Christmas. Kate, now a cynical teen, is “unexpectedly reunited with Santa when a mysterious troublemaker threatens to cancel Christmas… forever.”

Dance Dreams: Hot Chocolate Nutcracker - November 27

The Debbie Allen documentary (which hails from Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland) follows Allen and her group of dancers as they prep for the annual “Hot Chocolate Nutcracker.”

The Holiday Movies That Made Us - December 1

Go behind-the-scenes of some of your favorite holidays classics including “Elf” and “Nightmare Before Christmas.” There’s fun clips and interviews with the cast and crew that will shine a new light on staple movies.

The Great British Baking Show: Holidays (Season 3) - December 4

The cooking competition brings together former bakers from the previous series to compete in holiday-themed challenges. It’s heartwarming and will inspire you to whip up something delicious in the kitchen!
