“Jeopardy!” is hot right now, and Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager are taking a swing at it.
On Wednesday’s rendition of Today with Hoda and Jenna, Kotb and Hager talk “Jeopardy!” in light of the Greatest of All Time tournament that began airing on Tuesday evening. The show has garnered tons of viewers, pitting the highest scoring players of all time against each other.
“Don’t you all feel dumb when you watch ‘Jeopardy!?’” Kotb quipped when talking about the show. She also noted that they haven’t talked about “Jeopardy!” more than they have in recent months what with the shocking wins of players like James Holzhauer.
“Should we try to see if we can answer the Final Jeopardy question?” Hager asked. The two then geared up to answer the following question.
“This man’s name was given to a comet that crashed into Jupiter in 1994; he’s the only human whose remains lie on the moon," Alex Trebek can be heard saying from a recording of Tuesday night's games.
“Haley…Haley’s comet?” Hager guesses, noting that it’s the only comet name either of them can think of. They revealed the correct answer, which was Eugene Shoemaker.
The “Jeopardy!” GOAT Tournament kicked off on Tuesday night and featured players Ken Jennings, Brad Rutter, and James Holzhauer. While Holzhauer was in the lead by the second half of the evening’s rounds, it wasn’t enough to earn him the top spot. Jennings ended up beating out Holzhauer by a measly 200 points.
On night two of the games on Wednesday, Holzhauer came out on top by a much larger margin.
