While an electric bike accident leaves Simon Cowell with a broken back, Kelly Clarkson is stepping up to fill in for him as a judge on "America's Got Talent."
Clarkson made the announcement herself on Twitter with an "urgent memo," stating that while Cowell recovers from his accident, she would be covering from him on the popular talent competition show.
"My friend, Simon Cowell, is doing better now but was in an accident and won't be able to make Tuesday and Wednesday's live shows for AGT, but now worries America, someone far wiser, cooler, and hotter is taking his seat!" Clarkson wrote in the memo.
"The unbelievable Kelly Clarkson. You're welcome in advance," she concludes.
Cowell, who was involved in a e-bike accident in Malibu this weekend, suffered a broken back and is now recuperating after undergoing a 6-hour surgery.
Cowell took to Twitter on Sunday evening to speak out for the first time since news of his back injury broke. "Some good advice,” the music mogul started the tweet. “If you buy an electric trail bike, read the manual before you ride it for the first time. I have broken part of my back. Thank you to everyone for your kind messages.”
He followed up his good-humored update with a special note to nurses and doctors who treated him at a hospital in Los Angeles, where he underwent surgery following his fall.
“And a massive thank you to all the nurses and doctors,” Cowell wrote. “Some of the nicest people I have ever met. Stay safe everyone. Simon.”
