Fans are eager to see more Zack and Kelly time on the “Saved by the Bell” reboot. But how much time will they actually get? Mark-Paul Gosselaar is opening up about his on-screen romance.
Gosselaar, who plays Zack in the original series of “Saved by the Bell,” has revealed how much screen time he’ll get with his on-screen lover Kelly, played by Tiffani Thiessen. He’s previously revealed that his on-screen partner would be back “in some capacity.”
In an interview with TVLine, Gosselaar gave more details about what fans can expect from the romance, Yahoo reports.
“As far as I know, she will be in an episode or two with me,” said Gosselaar. “She was, at the time, working on [Netflix’s ‘Alexa & Katie’].” Gosselaar will guest-star in three episodes of the revival series and will act as one of the show’s executive producers.
He added that it wasn’t for lack of wanting that the pair will only appear in a handful of episodes. It “wasn’t necessarily because of our desire to do it. It was more of a commitment to other things,” he explained.
Gosselaar has a series-regular role on ABC’s “Mixed-ish.” “The fact that ABC is allowing me to do something for NBC, I’m super gracious that they’re allowing me to do that,” he said. The “Saved by the Bell” reboot will air on NBCUniversal’s streaming service, Peacock.
Based on previous reports, Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley will also star in the series revival.
