Baby Yoda is a cute bundle of joy that’s anything but punchable, but as it turns out, he’s also very expensive.
Actor and lifelong “Star Wars” fan, Adam Pally, learned that the hard way when he was cast to play a Storm Trooper on “The Mandalorian” alongside Jason Sudeikis.
Pally appeared in the series finale where his character was tasked with delivering the Force-sensitive alien to Moff Gideon. At one point, he goes to check on Baby Yoda who bites his finger causing him to throw a punch.
But once he threw that punch on set, director Jon Favreau informed him that the cute-as-a-button alien is worth $5 million!
“I remember the first take that I did when I punched it… They called ‘cut’ and Jon, who was watching on a monitor in his office, came down and said, “‘I just want to let you know that this is the hero [expensive puppet] and it costs, like, $5 million. I want you to hit it, but I want you to know that,'” Pally told reporters at the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Saturday while he was promoting his new NBC sitcom “Indebted, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Pally admitted the newfound information caused him to miss the next three takes “because I was so nervous.”
So, what was Pally’s first impression of Baby Yoda, officially known as The Child on the Disney+ series?
“Baby Yoda is a bit of a diva. Just constantly vaping,” he said jokingly.
Pally also admitted Favreau, a friend of his, didn’t tell him about the role when he asked him to be a part of “something special.”
“So Jason and I talked and were like, ‘Yeah, we really want to be part of it.’ It seemed exciting,” he revealed.
However, Pally admitted that it was “very hard to keep it a secret” once the scene was filmed and the series became such a hit.
