The one where Los Angeles fans gets to sit on the Central Perk orange couch too!
With NYC getting ready to hold an immersive “Friends” pop-up next month, the West Coast will get their own chance to celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary (and star Matthew Perry's birthday, which is today) with two local replicas of Ross, Rachel, Monica, Chandler, Phoebe and Joey’s favorite café, according to Entertainment Weekly.
The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf coffee chain will makeover two of their Los Angeles area shops to look like Central Perk.
From now until August 23rd, fans who visit the Coffee Bean on the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica and on Beverly Blvd, in West Hollywood will see the stores decked out in “Friends” décor and artwork and be able to take selfies on the show’s infamous orange couch.
In addition, coffee cups will have limited-edition collectable Central Perk sleeves, with one of eight classic quotes from the show. There will also be Central Perk branded coffee and mugs for sale that say things like “We Were on a Coffee Break” and “How You Brewin’.”
As previously announced, the coffee chain is offering six “Friends”-inspired beverages named for each of the show’s main characters: The Rachel Matcha Latte, The Ross Classic Flat White, The Monica Midnight Mocha Cold Brew, The Chandler Caramel Coconut Latte, The Phoebe Cookies and Cream Ice Blended and The Joey Mango Cold Brew Tea.
Now the LA pop-ups are much smaller in scale than the more elaborate NYC immersive experience entitled “Friends25.”
From September 7 – October 6th, fans can pay $29.50 to walk amongst the show’s props, costumes, and set recreations of Chandler and Joey’s apartment, Ross’ living room, Central Perk and even the infamous fountain from the program’s opening montage.
All of this is to honor the 25th anniversary of the show’s premiere on September 22, 1994.
So whether on the East or West coast, your “Friends” will be there for you!
