We finally got a glimpse of the upcoming "Beverly Hills 90210" revival.
The clip opens up with Tori Spelling (Donna Martin) and Brian Austin Green (David Silver) dancing as Spelling says, “remember when we used to make out to this song.” The two, who played love interests on the show, then kiss. Then there’s some quick clips of the entire cast toasting their glasses as Jennie Garth (Kelly Martin) says, “out of control, girl” to Spelling. Another quick montage and Gabrielle Carteris (Andrea Zuckerman) says, “I love when we’re all together.”
Also appearing in the teaser are Jason Priestly (Brandon Walsh), Shannen Doherty (Brenda Walsh) and Ian Ziering (Steve Sanders).
It’s particularly interesting that Spelling and Green kissed in the mini-trailer as the new series will not have them playing their characters. Instead, the actors will play “heightened versions” of their actual selves as they try to launch a reboot of the ‘90s series. So meta!
And while their characters of Donna and Steve ended up married in the original series, the new revival has cast Ivan Sergei as Spelling’s husband and LaLa Anthony as Green’s wife, according to Deadline. This is so confusing!
In anticipation to the show’s launch, Doherty shared a photo of the female cast members sitting in a booth at the Peach Pit and rockin’ some serious ‘90s fashion. Plaid blazers and oversized ties and chokers, oh my!
“Wait what???? Flashback photo or present day? Guess you’ll have to tune in to see,” Doherty captioned the pic of herself with Carteris, Garth and Spelling.
The original series ran for 10 seasons from 1990 and 2000 and became a national sensation.
Someone who will be sorely missed from the reunion is Luke Perry (Dylan McKay), who died from a massive stroke in March. Producers previously revealed that the series will pay tribute to Perry during its six-episode run this summer.
"BH90210" will premiere Aug. 7 at 9 p.m. on Fox.
