UB40 singer Duncan Campbell is currently in the hospital after suffering a stroke.
The band put out a statement on Twitter informing fans of the situation and asking to respect his privacy as he recovers.
“We can confirm that our lead singer and brother Duncan Campbell was taken to hospital after suffering a stroke,” the statement says.
“While we can report that he is already up and about, we ask fans to respect Duncan and the Family’s privacy as he works his way back to what we all hope will be a strong and speedy recovery.”
“We look forward to seeing you all on the road next spring,” the band said in a follow up tweet.
Campbelll became the lead singer of UB40 back in 2008 after his brother Ali Campbell left the group.
It’s been a rough go for the band lately as saxophonist Brian Travers was diagnosed with a brain tumor back in March, 2019. He missed the group’s 40th anniversary tour as he recovered.
“I’ve had a great life with no regrets and have absolutely nothing to add to a bucket list except getting over this and getting back to the thing I love, playing music to anyone who wants to listen and expressing myself through painting & sculpture. It’s been a huge privilege and I thank you all for the opportunity to ‘live the dream,” he said in a statement on the band’s website.
After suffering a seizure at home, Travers was taken to a hospital where subsequent brain scans revealed two tumors.
