Amazon Delivery Driver Caught on Camera Deliberately Spitting on Package

This is not the kind of behavior you want to see from your Amazon delivery driver ever, but especially not in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

A delivery man was caught on video purposefully spitting on a package and using his hand to smear it on the box.

TMZ posted the video of the incident, which they say took place on Thursday in Los Angeles.

The recipient of the package, Marcus Martinez, also shared the video on Twitter, in which you can visibly see the delivery man commit the heinous act.

“WARNING - amazon delivery person spread spit willingly on our package today! Please share!!!!!! I am trying to contact amazon ASAP so please tag amazon if you share this!! I received the box and saw a big wet spot and then checked the camera!,” he said tagging Amazon.

In the video, the man spits and smears his saliva on the packaging before taking out his phone to take a photo and verify that he delivered the package.

A neighbor posted photos of the package after the incident, which clearly shows the box is wet on the top from where the man spit.

An Amazon representative released a statement about the incident to Business Insider stating: "This is clearly not representative of drivers who deliver for Amazon and the care they take for customers around the world every day," an Amazon spokesperson told Business Insider in a statement. "We are aggressively investigating to understand what may have occurred in this situation. If it truly was a malicious act by the driver, we will be sure he is held accountable, up through and including law enforcement action."

TMZ reports that the situation was reported to Amazon and that a rep watched the footage with the man and his neighbor. The rep allegedly “gasped in horror” when she saw it.

The publication also claims the rep said the delivery driver was from a third party service and was reported, but it’s possible that he may still be on the job today.

With this incident in mind, please exert caution if you’re expecting a package!

As the world battles the pandemic and many states invoke “stay at home” orders and urge people to practice social distancing and hand washing to prevent the spread of germs, there have been a handful of disturbing cases that find people disobeying mandates.

Earlier this week, a woman purposefully coughed on $35,000 worth of produce at a grocery store as part of a “twisted prank.”

Those who intentionally spread the coronavirus could be prosecuted under federal terrorism laws, according to CBS.
