The couple that cosplays together, stays together.
Social media influencers Rachel Martino and Leo Camacho have created a following by morphing into famous movie characters and recreating scenes from classic films like “Grease” and “Beauty and the Beast.”
The pair met on a Disney cruise in 2019 and after realizing they both had a love for “The Little Mermaid,” they decided to do a photo shoot dressed as Ariel and her love interest Eric, according to Insider.
As their romance blossomed, the duo continued to come up with more characters to emulate like Sandy and Danny in “Grease.” On top of getting the outfits down perfectly, they also looked for backdrops similar to scenes in each film.
While Rachel figures out the best photo angles and poses, Leo then edits and retouches each photo shoot.
"I've always loved doing these photo re-creations of scenes from TV and movies," Rachel told the outlet. "And I think that during quarantine, we just realized just how far we could take it with both of our skill sets."
During the pandemic, the pair have been doing the shoots in their apartment with outfits they already had in their closets.
To keep costs down, they try and not spend less than $100 per shoot.
While each photo shoot takes less than two hours, editing the footage can last anywhere from 8 to 16 hours, the couple said.
In recent months, they’ve also recreated scenes from “La La Land,” "Star Wars," “Spider-Man” and “The Addams Family,” among others.
The pair also post behind-the-scenes footage of the shoots on their TikTok and said the response from online fans has been “overwhelming.”
"We take a lot of pride in legitimizing that hobby," Leo said. "It isn't just dressing in a costume in your mom's basement. We're creating works of art."
