Calling all ‘90s kids! A favorite snack from the past is coming back to jazz up all of your packed lunches.
People reports that General Mills announced Monday that Dunkaroos are making a comeback beginning this summer. “We’re thrilled to relaunch Dunkaroos in the U.S. after years of it only being available in Canada,” General Mills President of Snacks Jeff Caswell said in a press release.
“For those who grew up in the ‘90s, the original cookie-frosting combo represents the taste, color and fun of being a kid during that decade. We know there’s a lot of love for Dunkaroos, and fans everywhere have been asking for it. We’re excited to help ‘90s kids relive all the best parts of childhood,” the statement continued.
Fans first began to speculate the cookie-frosting combo return when a Dunkaroos verified Instagram account surfaced on the social media platform. Their first photo featured a close-up photo of the famous colorful icing with a simple side-eye emoji as the caption.
Thousands of people flooded the comments section to show their love for the popular cookie brand. “I turn 30 this year and this is the best birthday gift ever,” one ‘90s kid writes.
The brand later confirmed to People that the lunchbox staple is, indeed, making a comeback.
