A fishing crew in Alabama was shocked to see their “catch of the day” when they reeled it into their boat.
As it turns out, the crew caught a cat in their nets during a recent fishing trip, People reports.
Still Flyin Charters, out of Orange Beach, was out in the Gulf of Mexico when they found that the cat was stranded in the ocean.
“Our catch of the day. Poor little guy was sucked out by the tide,” the crew said on the company's Facebook page. “We caught him just outside the pass in the gulf. He was struggling to stay up.”
The crew shared that they were lucky to rescue the kitten by scooping him out with a net.
Steve Crews, the captain and owner of Still Flyin Charters, said that the cat was meowing as the animal was being rescued. Once they saved the drenched cat, the crew made sure to comfort and dry the animal. The team was able to bring the cat back to shore.
“We caught him, brought him in the boat, and let him recover,” the crew’s post read. The deckhand was later able to find the cat a new home.
“Can’t say you see that every day,” the Facebook post said.
