Louisiana Man Hospitalized With Coronavirus After Flu Misdiagnosis

Reports say that a man in Louisiana is in critical condition with coronavirus after doctors misdiagnosed him with the flu.

NOLA.com reported that Mark Frilot was misdiagnosed with the flu. His wife said he has “never, ever sick” and had a mild fever on March 6. In an instant, he was soon unable to get out of bed.

Due to his symptoms, the 45-year-old instantly went to the local urgent care clinic and was given a flu test. Doctors then told him he had the flu and prescribed him Tamiflu.

The prescription did not work, and his health continued to worsen as he decided to go to the emergency room. The urgent care then faxed over his information, which said he reported negative for the flu.

“I was outraged,” his wife, Heaven Frilot said. “How does it happen?”

Doctors eventually gave him the COVID-19 test, which came back positive. Mark is now in intensive care as he battles the virus and double pneumonia.

The 45-year-old is now on a ventilator as he remains in intensive care.

“A lot of people don’t get to this point. Their body fights it off,” his wife said. “But not everybody.”

His wife wants everyone to know that social distancing is very important to improving this situation.

“It could happen to anybody,” she said. “That’s all I’m trying to say.”
