Regal Cinemas Is Switching Soda Brands and Some Fans Are Freaking Out

Get ready movie lovers, your soda is about to change!

Variety has reported that Regal Cinemas is switching to Pepsi for non-alcoholic beverages.

The movie company reported that it will no longer serve Coca-Cola at its theaters and will only serve Pepsi products. This will happen in the Spring of 2020.

In addition to Pepsi, other PepsiCo drinks offered will include Pure Leaf, Mountain Dew, Lifewater, Bubly sparkling water and AMP Game Fuel. The new selections will be available for purchase in the coming weeks.

“This is something where the stars aligned,” John Curry, senior VP of foodservice for Regal said. “Pepsi and Regal just share a mutual passion and excitement for the moviegoing experience.”

Regal will also offer another PepsiCo brand product, the famous Frito-Lay snacks, at its locations. Both Pepsi and Regal hope “their partnership grows beyond food services.

“We’re looking to bring big name activations and experiences of the sort that Pepsi is famous for,” Scott Finlow, chief marketing officer, PepsiCo Global Foodservice said.

“We love momentum and we think we’ve got some momentum now,” Finlow continued. “This is a massive brand building opportunity for us.”

Impassioned moviegoers took to Twitter to react to the announcement of the new partnership. Some fans weren't happy about the soda switch.

But the response wasn't all negative.

Regal has 546 theaters with 7,178 movie screens in its network.
