While many people self-isolate under stay-at-home orders, workers all over the country are still venturing out to do essential jobs.
One such worker is Ben Hertle, a UPS delivery driver in Maple Grove, Minnesota who is trying to put a smile on everyone’s face by singing during his route, reports Today.
In an uplifting video he shared to Facebook, Hertle performed Lenny LeBlanc’s worship song, “There’s None Like You,” which he sang while sitting in his UPS truck during his lunch break.
Hertle shared that his previous job was to deliver groceries until he was let go from his career during the 2008 recession. He then said he was hired as a UPS driver and now understands what people are going through as they are laid off during the COVID-19 outbreak.
“I’m watching person after person after person lose their job and I have a job and I’m grateful for that, but at the same time there’s so much pain around me that I’m seeing as a driver,” he said.
With all of the chaos happening, he felt inspired to sing.
As many continue to lose their jobs, the Senate passed a massive stimulus bill meant to help Americans deal with the economic impact of the coronavirus outbreak.
Under the bill, most single adults would receive $1,200 per person, and married couples would receive $2,400, with an additional $500 for each child under 17. This is a more generous package than was previously discussed.
The Senate approved the bill in a unanimous 96-0 vote, with the House expected to vote on Friday.
