According to a Twitter spokesperson, Twitter could ban President Donald Trump from the platform as soon as President-elect Joe Biden is inaugurated.

Although Twitter has been adding warning labels to many of the president’s tweets -- those that have recently included conspiracy theories and allegations of voter fraud, Trump is protected by Twitter’s own “World Leaders Policy,” which allows the platform to keep a tweet on a page, even if it defies the rule, so that the public is able to view the opinions of their leaders.

The president has been allowed to tweet misinformation about the U.S. 2020 election, COVID-19, and both tweet and retweet threats that encourage violence.

Christopher Krebs, the director of the Department of Homeland Security's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, voiced confidence in the integrity of the election ahead of the November vote. And afterward, he knocked down allegations that the count was tainted by fraud.
