Vanessa Bryant received a special birthday gift from her late husband, Kobe Bryant.
While celebrating her 38th birthday on Tuesday, Vanessa shared a letter left for her by the NBA legend.
"Yesterday I found an envelope labeled To: The Love of my Life. From, Tu Papi ❤️" Vanessa captioned a photo of her holding an envelope.
She explained that she held off on reading the letter until the special day, writing, "I waited to open one more letter on my birthday. It gave me something to look forward to today.❤️"
“The irony is that Kobe had a photo of me drawn with an Angel holding me up by an artist on the cover,” she wrote adding, “missing the Love of my Life and my sweet little Mamacita- my fellow Taurus. Grateful to wake up to my 3 sweet girls today. Wish we were all together. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️."
Vanessa and Kobe would have celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary on April 18.
Shortly after her husband died, Vanessa revealed that he was quite the romantic. “He planned special anniversary trips and a special traditional gift every year of our marriage,” she said adding that on Valentine’s Day, he surprised her with the iconic blue dress worn by Rachel McAdams in “The Notebook.”
Kobe and their 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, died in a tragic helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, in January.
The crash also killed seven other victims including Gianna’s basketball teammates, Payton Chester and Alyssa Altobelli. The WNBA picked the three girls as the honorary draftees in the 2020 draft.
Earlier this month, Vanessa honored Gianna on what would have been her 14th birthday in a moving tribute on Instagram.
"Happy 14th Birthday to my sweet baby girl, Gianna. Mommy loves you more than I can ever show you. You are part of MY SOUL forever. I miss you so much everyday. I wish I could wake up and have you here with me. I miss your smile, your hugs and your giggles. I miss EVERYTHING about YOU, Gigi. I LOVE YOU so much!!!!!!!,” Vanessa captioned a colorful photo of Gianna smiling and rocking head-to-toe Mickey Mouse attire.
