A Las Vegas high school’s mariachi group has been selected to perform for the nation at President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration.
Mariachi Joya will perform in conjunction with “Parade Across America,” a virtual parade featuring performances from artists around the country.
"The parade which will be televised for the American people and feature diverse, dynamic performances in communities across the country," according to a press release by the inaugural committee.
Mariachi Joya will rep their home state of Nevada and their Mexican and Latin American heritage. The group performed for Biden last year when he paid a visit to the state during his campaign.
Biden’s cabinet, if confirmed, will be one of the most diverse in the nation’s history.
Along with his choice of Miguel Cardona as his choice for U.S. Secretary of Education, Biden has nominated Alejandro Majorkas as secretary of Homeland Security and Xavier Becerra to head the Department of Health and Human Services.
