(UNDATED) -- Two very close races in the area remain undecided on Wednesday morning. The first is the 7th Congressional District race between incumbent Democrat Abigail Spanberger and Republican challenger Nick Freitas are  in a virtual dead heat with only absentee ballots to be counted. A little over 700 votes separates the two with Freitas currently holding a slight lead.

In the Richmond mayoral race, the winner is still unclear. Mayor Levar Stoney, however, is in position to claim a second term. He holds a slim lead over Councilwoman Kim Gray and Alexsis Rodgers. Stoney leads in 5 of  9 districts, which is what he needs to win. There are still a number of votes that need to be counted in that race as well. The votes outstanding appear to be absentee mail-in.
