Despite reports from multiple credible outlets that a deal had been completed with Michael Brantley and the Toronto Blue Jays, the Astros are bringing back the 33-year-old outfielder, according to Houston TV journalist Mark Berman and ESPN's Buster Olney.

Earlier on Wednesday, it was reported that Brantley was signing a three-year deal with the Toronto Blue Jays, following former teammate George Springer to the AL East.

But that report was discovered to be false, and a deal with the Blue Jays was not yet finished.

The Blue Jays were one of the teams involved in Brantley, but it is unclear what happened between the two sides on why a deal could not be reached.

Brantley spent the first decade of his career in Cleveland, making three All-Star teams and helping the team reach the 2016 World Series. If there was any drawback to Brantley's 10 years in Cleveland, it's that he often struggled with injuries.

However, in two seasons with the Astros, Brantley was largely able to stay healthy, slashing .309/.370/.497 in 194 games, helping the Astros to return to the World Series in 2019 and the ALCS in 2020.
