Major League Baseball is suspending it's Spring Training and delaying the start of the regular season amid growing fears about the wide-ranging impact of COVID-19.
According to RADIO.COM MLB Insider Jon Heyman, MLB Spring Training games will be suspended "as of 4 p.m. ET" Thursday.
What's more, the regular season had been scheduled to begin on March 26. That early start will now become a late start, with Heyman adding that baseball plans to push the start of the regular season back by at least two weeks.
The NBA became the first major American sports league to suspend their season Wednesday night. MLS and NHL have since followed suit. It's obviously offseason for the NFL, but the league is expected to discuss how to proceed with their important dates in a conference call today, per Mark Maske of The Washington Post.
