2020 is over, but the 2020 Astros Shame Tour still has a couple of months left in its "one year to shame them all," as the account was founded in February of 2020.
Thus, when "Wheel of Fortune" host Pat Sajak quipped about the sign-stealing Astros, the now-famous Twitter account jumped all over it. The answer for the "What Are You Doing?" category turned out to be "Banging On Trash Cans," which obviously led to an Astros joke.
Sajak, a longtime baseball fan who used to host "The Pat Sajak Baseball Hour" on MLB.com and was once an investor in the independent Golden Baseball League, obviously knows his fair share about the national pastime. But it doesn't take a huge fan to know what went down in one of the biggest scandals the game has ever seen.
And that's worth mentioning, because we know that game show contestants aren't always the most aware sports fans.
Still, this is only my second-favorite pop culture reference to the shameful cheating that took place in the Astros organization over the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
2020 was a long year for everyone, including the Astros, but they shouldn't expect the jokes and references to their scandal to fade away just because the calendar flipped over.
