Bobby Portis calls reporter 'd***head' after inaccurate tweet

Bobby Portis hasn't been to the postseason in a few years now, thanks to some subpar teams that he's been a part of. The most recent, the 2019-20 Knicks, finished with a 21-45 record, just outside the bottom five in the entire NBA. Before that, it was a mix of the 22-60 Bulls and the 32-50 Wizards, neither of which got him as many wins as he might have preferred. The 27-55 Bulls came before that, in the 2017-18 season, and they were among the worst teams in the NBA that year.

Now that he's landed with the Milwaukee Bucks on a two-year, $7.5 million deal, though, a postseason appearance is as close to a guarantee as there is in the NBA, given that he'll partner with Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday and company. And based on that playoff likelihood, it's worth considering what his impact might be in a key role off the bench in a postseason setting.

That's what one longtime Knicks reporter mentioned as an aspect of the signing, tweeting that the Bucks were adding a player with "zero playoff games under his belt" in Portis. This claim is untrue, however, as Portis was part of a successful team once upon a time, playing in six postseason games with the No. 8 seed Bulls during the 2016-17 season. He had some strong performances mixed in, including a 19-point, nine-rebound game in relief in Game 1 against the powerhouse No. 1 seed Boston Celtics.

Instead of letting the mistake slide, though, Portis decided to put the reporter on blast.

Milwaukee reporters... you've been warned.

Portis ends his time as a Knick — for now — after 66 games played, five as a starter but most in a backup big man role. The 25-year-old averaged 10.1 points and 5.1 rebounds in 21.1 minutes per game, highlighted by a 30-point outburst against the Miami Heat in December of 2019. However, his most memorable outing in New York may have come in the team's first win of the 2019-20 season, when he led the Knicks to a comeback victory over his former Bulls team.
