Charles Barkley sounds off on Falcons: 'That was the biggest choke job'

Charles Barkley has just about had it with the Atlanta Falcons.

The NBA on TNT studio analyst was so fired up about the latest loss – a 40-39 collapse to the Dallas Cowboys – he felt compelled to air his grievances on the air before the Western Conference Finals Game 2 between the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets.

Amid the show, Barkley raised his hand to speak, which host Ernie Johnson asked, “what on Earth is so urgent that you have to raise your hand?”

“I just want to say something America,” Barkley said. “Y’all know I love football. It’s my favorite sport. Let me tell you something: I lost a fortune on the Atlanta Falcons in the Super Bowl when they choked, but let me tell you something, they outdid theyself today. That was the biggest choke job what the Atlanta Falcons did today. I’m not giving the Dallas Cowboys credit. That was a choke job.”

The Falcons blew a 19-point halftime lead, including a nine-point lead with two minutes remaining in the game to drop to 0-2 on the season.

The collapse was certainly unique, as it was the first time a team scored 39 points without turning the ball over since turnovers started being tracked in 1933.

It may not have been the same stakes as the Super Bowl, but it was certainly a devastating loss – enough for Chuck to detract from an NBA show to sound off on them.

One can only wonder how much Barkley has lost betting on the Falcons.
