Your calendar may say it’s Thursday, but NBA 2K players know what day it really is—judgment day. The popular video game series revealed its updated player ratings ahead of next month’s release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and, to no one’s surprise, Finals MVP LeBron James reigned supreme, leading the pack with a 98.

Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo (97), Kawhi Leonard (96), James Harden (96) and Kevin Durant (95) round out the top five with LeBron’s Lakers teammate Anthony Davis (95) just missing the cut at No. 6. Other players of note include nightly triple-double threat Luka Doncic (94 overall grade), this year’s cover athlete Damian Lillard (also 94) and bruising Pelicans phenom Zion Williamson, who garnered a respectable 86.

While many players, including Celtics rising star Jayson Tatum, were satisfied with their marks, Paul George was hoping for a bit better. “This is going to be an amazing training going into this next season,” said George, who slipped from a 93 in last year’s game to an 88 this time around. “2K22 I’ll be a 96.”

After conquering Miami in the NBA Finals, one would safely assume the Lakers would be the game’s top-rated team, but surprisingly, that isn’t the case. That honor actually belongs to the Brooklyn Nets (83 overall), who boast a deep roster featuring stars Kevin Durant and eccentric point guard Kyrie Irving.

The top three-point marksman in this year’s edition of 2K is—surprise, surprise—Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors (99!) with teammate Klay Thompson, who missed the entirety of last season with a torn ACL, runner-up with a similarly impressive 95. Other category leaders include Irving (99 in ball-handling), Williamson (a 97 dunker), Davis (98 hustle rating), Durant (98 in mid-range shooting) and Leonard (98 defensive consistency).

The NBA hasn’t announced when its next season will get underway, but luckily gamers only have to wait a few more weeks to get their paws on 2K21, which hits shelves November 10th for Xbox and November 12th for PS5.
