We saw a crew of workers assembling practice courts at Disney World Friday in preparation for NBA training camps and now the league has released its scrimmage schedule for the 22 teams competing in Orlando later this month. Scrimmages will be held July 22-28 with each team slated for three games.
The league will stage scrimmages at three separate venues—HP Field House, Visa Athletic Center and The Arena—contained within the resort’s ESPN Wide World of Sports campus. All but six of the 33 games will feature teams from opposing conferences. As of now, the league has no plans to televise the weeklong scrimmage slate. Seeding games will begin two nights after the final scrimmage.
The NBA will make its much-anticipated return with a Thursday-night doubleheader featuring a pair of marquee matchups. The Utah Jazz and New Orleans Pelicans (led by newly-shredded Zion Williamson) will square off in the early game (6:30 PM ET) with the Lakers and Clippers battling for Los Angeles supremacy in the nightcap (9 PM ET). Both opening-night contests will air on TNT.
